Review week 5

Space- Space is the amount of area the thing takes up. The space where it is is called positive space. The space where the art isn't is called negative space. The picture I've selected above shows that most of the space is positive space, which is good so that you can see the art more clearly.

Shape- Shape is the most basic outline for the object you are making. Shape doesn't have any inner detail, only the outline of what the shape looks like. The picture above shows the flaw of shape, overlapping things. The duck's foot seems to be missing, but really its just in front of its body.
Texture- Texture is the look of something that you could feel, like cloth or smooth stone. Texture can be used to trick people into believing that something is made from a certain material. The picture above shows a rough rock texture. This is an example of texture because you can relate to how that looks and feels.
Line- Lines are used in art to section off things or to convey a certain feeling to the audience. A horizontal line gives a feeling of calmness, while a diagonal line relates a feeling of movement. The picture above is a good example because of all the diagonal lines giving it a more popping feel to it.
Value- Value is the certain shade of the color you are using. Using one color throughout your work will give a very 2d feel to it. But if you use some other colors, you can give the art dimension to ake it more real. The picture above shows an example of the flat tone of value.

Review week 4

Why/how can icons be used to communicate?
Icons can be used to communicate by being used as warnings or helpful hints. Say there is a slippery substance on the floor, someone could put that yellow stand with the man slipping on it up and warn others of the danger.

These are two common icons you can see around.

What is the difference between copyright and public domain?
Public domain means that everyone can use the specified object without being sued or breaking some law.

How can you avoid plagairism in this class? In other classes?
You can avoid plagiarizing by reviewing what you've wrote and check to see if there are any things that are way too similarly worded to something from your source.
