Vocabulary

target audience- The crowed you are trying to get your message across.


message- the point or opinion or fact you are trying to get across.


work ethic- the thought that hard work deserves a good reward.


employability skills- skills employers look for in  people they wish to hire.


20/20 Rule- when  working on a computer you look 20ft away for 20 seconds so your eyes don't go cross.


Right-To-Know Laws- makes any higher up tell you of any hazards in the workplace.



icon- A very simple image that can get a point across without much thought.

vector-based graphics- Graphics that can be resized to fit any specifications needed.

 specs/specifications of a project- The requirements of the projects looks.
dialog box: A box in which you chat to other people in.

palette: A color selection tool used in adobe programs.


guidelines- The specific rules you are supposed to be following.


extensions- Added on things to an object or a period of time.


contextual menu- Gives you your limited amount of options to do something.


clipping mask- Creates a clean cut off of your art to section off the needed area from the excess one. excess gets cut off and hidden.


hue- The color itself

primary colors- Blue, yellow and red

secondary colors- Orange, purple and green

tertiary colors- blue-green, blue-violet, red-violet, red-orange, yellow-orange and yellow green

neutral colors- colors that don't draw much attention

continuous tone image- an image where all various colors can be represented

resolution- how many pixels are used in a picture

file size- the amount of disk space your file takes up


typography- Expressing ideas through the selection of appropriate typefaces


typeface- distinctive designs of visual symbols that are used to compose a printed image/design


 serif- smaller line used to finish off a main stroke of a letter, usually at the top and bottom of a character


body type- makes large amounts of text easy to read


display type- size of text


reverse type- white text on black


point size- measures the size of the typeface


Flush left- text is aligned to the left


Flush right- text is aligned to the right


centered- text is aligned in the middle 


Justified- text is aligned to right and left, fills whole box.


Type family- bold italics condensed type styles


small caps- capital letters that are the same size as lower case


lining numerals- numbers with the same height


non-lining- dont line up (ascenders+descenders)

leading- space in between lines and letters


Margin- white space around the edge of your document


Kerning- adjusting the space in between individual characters


Tracking- adjust space between characters while they are in a group


Concept- an idea, something formed in ones mind


Final product- end result, how we ultimately communicate to our audiance
